1.
Unpoisoned 02:26
I was drowned into a single flask filled up with the remedy. I have no clue how to cure this love for me without hate or folly. Me from Myself — to vanish —. Golden springs never to tarnish, they flow and end up to the well. Me from the well — to escape —. It has to be free of any poison, because the most polluted waters are blackened by the seeking of power. Greed, to be abolished. Greed from myself, perish.
2.
I realized you were lost, when I saw in the dust exhaled from your lungs, the same pain that made my heart rust. Now, we are like rivers and sea: they confront forces endlessly, oppose the stream and the tide, moulding the waves that some of us see, ringing the bell of a wedding to be. I knew we would unite our souls as one. We were bound to live our lives just to catch a glimpse of it. In spite of the fate that separates, we'll achieve every fucking inch of it. Upon the misery of sullen minds and broken slaves. Upon the misery of wounded hopes and bruised wills. Will you succumb?
3.
When I was dropped into this world, I turned out to be dead. Umbilical wounds tying me to the womb, to the ignorant bliss. Searching through a maze of fluids, hanging to some rope of flesh, a wandering soul was lost. Stranded on a bed my wandering soul was lost. I choked, strangled by the laws of birth, suffocating victim of a loss. Her anguished weeping will soon fade, just wish the daylight would always come and relieve us from the burden's blade.
4.
Ascent 02:05
I was locked in a cave, I was scared by the call of the grave. I would not give because I was trying to save. At this very moment, gushes of wind caressing me, all my senses working; accurate visions flowing to my brain, welcoming fragments of the real; shipping infos through my nerves, pumping joy into the heart full of love, bursting into drops of billions of "I". I'll come out of the cave. I'll live free from the call of the grave. Makes no sense to be brave: give and do not save.
5.
When I will finally pass away and all the crows will find me dead, celebrating and fighting for my flesh, hope I'll turn out to be alive. No Christ to banish me to hell, no limbo, no golden cell. No saints shall ask me for my sins, no saints will be weighing my sins on my eternal day. A wave bouncing on the borders of time. I'll wave to all the foolish beliefs goodbye. Finally reaching through the daze this hand that I've known for long: this soul that could bear no name... a lullaby I've always sung.
6.
By the time I was hurt, I knew that pain's like a friend that you forget when far away. Ignoring the absence, filling it in mental ways, you picture fragments of the real. You pet it, you feed it, you cherish it. You seem to wash the joy of it, then you figure out it never was so far. Whenever it's on your way, don't let it hold you down. Put a distance between you and it. Like in a photograph, in a mirror, like a shell, like a dead version of you when you're finally gone for good. Like a puppeteer, like an actor in a movie, like the mask you let down when you're finally alone for good.

"Three years after their debut album "Aegri Somnia", Lorient, France's DIREWOLVES return with "The Great Year". This new six tracks EP focuses on the more energetic facet of their sound, refining the band's revigorating blend of melodic crust and screamo-influenced hardcore. Recorded & mixed by Guillaume Doussaud at Swan Sound Studios (Amanda Woodward, Aussitôt Mort…), mastered by Dan Coutant at Sun Room Studios (Coliseum, The Sword, Jawbox…) and with artwork once again designed by Førtifem, "The Great Year" is another implacable display of the band's abrasive yet anthemic vision of punk/hardcore."
